Cationorm is not like other eye drops
Looking for something different? Cationorm is not like other eye drops you may have tried. It’s the first and only eye drop to use ionic technology.
Did you know?
Ionic is a fancy term to say that the molecules in the formula have a tiny electrical charge. But don’t worry, it’s not like the electricity in your plug sockets!
Similar to magnets, the positively charged formula of Cationorm® locks to the surface of the eye which naturally has a tiny negative charge.
The eye drops spread quickly and then stay in place where they’re needed.
That means you experience long-lasting relief. So much so, you may find that you don’t need to reapply Cationorm as often as alternative eye drops*.

Triple action formula
You might think of your body’s natural tears as just salty water but there’s much more to it than that – they’re a delicate balance of water, oil, and mucus, arranged in three layers. This is called the tear film and it protects and lubricates the eye. Dry eye happens when this is out of balance or there isn’t enough of it.
Cationorm mimics real tears and targets all three layers of your tear film. It works to:
- Restore moisture and reduce further loss of your tears
- Protect the surface of your eye
- Relief the discomfort and irritation of dry eye
Cationorm treats dry eye symptoms such as:
Cationorm is formulated to mimic the body’s own natural tears and be long-lasting. Ingredients include:
- Cetalkonium chloride (CKC) brings the ionic ‘positive charge’ that attracts hydration to the negatively charged eye’s surface.
- Mineral oils that target the fatty oil outer layer of the eye.
- Glycerol to support lubrication and comfort.
What’s not in it?
Why’s that important? Read our preservative explainer FAQ (<1-minute read) for the facts about these chemicals and why you may not want them in your eyecare.
Cationorm also contains tyloxapol, poloxamer 188, tris-hydrochloride, tromethamine, cetalkonium chloride and water.
